Bass Guitar Scales Lesson
i am a beginner well not really Beginner Guitar/bass player and i dont take lessons but...?
i dont know what to learn or how to learn it i can read tabs so i am asking guitar and bass well anyone who plays an instrument to help me on what i should do everyday. like when you teach yourself do you practise scales first then songs?
I've played guitar for 4 years and am currently majoring in Jazz Guitar Performance in College. I would start playing songs that are just chords, like johnny cash songs they are for the most part basic, and just start playing harder stuff and keep pushing your self. I would also start working on scales or warm-up exercises, the style of guitar you are going to play will decide the extent of scales you will want to practice. If you want to play Jazz, which is my area, the penatonics are my favorite. The most important thing is to learn how to read music, because that is the greatest asset a guitarist can have. I would learn to play some songs first because they will help you get acquainted with your guitar, then work on scales and songs at the same time. When you learn scales make sure you know the Music Theory behind them or they really won't make sense or matter much. Don't forget about Music Theory it is important.
