You don't have to go give away your hard earned cash for a custom guitar strap to have a strap that looks custom. Personalized guitar straps are much cheaper because the straps you already own can be personalized. A professional could personalize it for you or if you are a really creative and artistic person, you could do it yourself, which would definitely be the least expensive..

There are metal studs, jewels, paints, finishes, glitters and beads to name a few of the seemingly endless choices you could make to personalize your strap. Maybe you play alternative music, grunge, hard rock or even heavy metal, if so then some cross bones or skulls might do the trick or possibly those big pointy studs that are black or red would be cool, the variety of materials and colors are practically endless. Of course what you are able to do depends on the width of your strap. Thicker straps a great for mounting studs and jewels because there is more there for it to "grab" onto.

A lot of guitar players will put their name, their initials or their bands name on their straps, which is a good idea if your looking to be recognized quickly. Some like to wear their heart on their sleeve or in this case their guitar strap and you’ll see their girlfriends name or even “I Love Mom” which certainly has its place.

Personally I really enjoy the logos and designs that are outta the box. It’s the ones that are bizarre and radical – definitely not anything I would have thought of on my own like aliens or some mythical creature that appears to have mystical powers.

To get a classy look or to be outlandish and bizarre you can add a variety of accessories to make it whatever you can dream up. The best part is you are the only thing that can limit it - it's your baby! Personalizing a strap has some real benefits too, especially if it really matters to you how your strap looks, you have seemingly endless options of what you could possibly customize the appearance.

You’d look kind of odd if you had some granny pattern and you played death metal, it would definitely make you stand out, but probably not in a way that you’re hoping for.

If you’re paying someone to personalize your strap for you, you will have many different options. You can use many different colors of leather as a backing to whatever design or pattern you decide to use giving it depth. Of course leather isn't the only way to add depth, you could use any number of materials or even use embroidery to give it the same look.

The one thing that needs to stay a priority is the usability and comfort of your strap - whatever you have done or decide to do it should compromise either. Otherwise you’ll end up not using the strap as much if at all.

Your imagination and budget will ultimately determine what you have done to personalize your strap. Doing it yourself is always a great way to save money, but what you can do may be limited by your skill set, so it may not end up as you imagined it would.

No matter how you decide to personalize your strap eithe your self or pay to have it done, take your time so you get the look that make you stand out and your feel comfortable wearing.
