The Masterbilt AJ-500RE - Epiphone's Acoustic Electric Vintage Replica Guitar
The Epiphone Masterbilt AJ-500RE is an acoustic-electric guitar that has the look, feel and beautiful vintage sound of the 1930’s classics that it is attempting to replicate. The AJ (advanced jumbo) in AJ-500RE denotes that the guitar is large bodied (similar to that of the dreadnought) with sloping shoulders. This means that the Epiphone AJ500RE is big on volume without losing warmth or balance.
The Masterbilt series is a showcase of Epiphone’s proud guitar making tradition and their attention to detail in the construction of the AJ-500RE highlights this fine tradition. The AJ-500RE features a solid rosewood body and sitka spruce top that gives the guitar excellent timbre and lots of depth. A vintage feature on the AJ-500RE is the dovetailed neck joint. Inside the AJ-500RE you’ll find Sitka spruce bracing and mahogany kerfing that adds to the overall sound of the guitar.
The Epiphone Masterbilt AJ500RE is distinguished by the high standard of craftsmanship on display - the fine work in the crafting of fretworks and fretboard are an example of this. With a good action right up and down the fretboard and notable intonation, the AJ-500RE is a joy to play. This vintage replica has a simple elegance with nickel hardware, mother-of-pearl stickpin inlay and offset notch headstock.
With the inclusion of the on-board stereo preamp system eSonic2 the AJ-500RE performs fantastically when amped up. The eSonic2 gives the user optimum control of their amplified sound through individual EQ controls for the Nanomag pick-up and Nanoflex pick-up. The eSonic2’s “blend” slider allows you to mix between the two pick-ups to find the perfect sound. Also contained in the eSonic2 is a volume control knob, an on-board tuner and phase button to assist with feedback elimination.
