evh pickup questions?
Eddie van halens frankenstein guitar had only one functioning pickup and that was the bridge humbucker...i would like to do the same thing...how do i easily disconnect the neck pickup and he also had his bridge pickup bolted directly to the body how would i do that?
You don't really need to disconnect the neck pup, just don't use it if you don't want to...
VH sounds like VH because of his touch. He'll sound like himself on an imported 80 dollar pawnshop special, and you won't sound like him even if you ran on stage and played through his exact rig.
I'd worry about getting a similarly voiced pup before you worry about disconnecting the ones you have, and then focus on learning his material. After you get it note for note perfect, work on the "nuance" things he does that give his playing the sense of identity. The right notes at the right time are only about 50% of the overall picture
