Guitar Course
Is Electric and Classical guitar courses the same?
Im planing to buy an electric guitar to take an electric guitar course . But my father insist that i take classical guitar course . Are they the same or different ? My taste for music are Rock , Metal , Punk . None music that i like are classical . He said that classical music is the root of all music . And that if i can play classical , i can play metal easily . I dont think so . Answer my question please !
Your father is completely wrong. Every musical genre has common roots but at the same time every music genre has its own musical conventions. For example, rock guitar uses a great deal of power chords while they're rarely if ever used in classical guitar. It would be a colossal waste of time to take a classical course when your interests lie elsewhere, especially because it'll be hard for you to stay motivated playing music that you have no interest in. Your father may be well intentioned but he's dead wrong.
I say this as a father myself and as a guitarist who plays steel string acoustic, classical, and Electric Guitars.
