Hollow Body Guitar
What is the quickest way to replace Semi Hollow body guitar pickups?
I think instead of going through the f hole, its quicker if we remove the strings, screw out the pickups, cut the wire and connect the new pickup wires onto the existing wire on the guitar. Then we screw the new pickups in. I never did this before so I want to know if it works. I plan on getting an Epiphone Sheraton and then changing the pickups.
That is not complicated. In a semi-hollow guitar, you remove the knobs and unscrew the pots and tones. You slide them out of the pickup cavity.
Take your time not to scratch the finish. They will pass through the cavity because that is how they are put through in the irst place.
Once you unscrew the pickups, gently pull the wiring harness out. You will have a clear view where each pickup is soldered. Just re-solder them in the same place and you are set. Put them back through the cavity, place them in their appropriate position and you are set.
TECH TIPS....
What I suggest is to use a different thread color (strong thread) and tie it to each volume and tone. When you have to put them back, it is much easier because you can pull on the thread lightly, and easier to put back in the holes
